If it’s a warm Thursday evening in Southgate then you know the best place to be is at the Southgate Shopping center enjoying one of the city’s summer-long Markets in the Park.
After a year off because of the pandemic, the popular Thursday night food- and fun-fests returned on July 1. And they continue each Thursday through Aug. 26.
Each week’s free event features a theme, live music, food trucks, vendors and special family activities.
The events run from 5:30-8:30, with the bands playing from 6-8 p.m.
Here is the remaining schedule:
July 29 – Broadway in the Park
Entertainment will be provided by the Southgate Community Players, who will put on a cabaret show. Food trucks on hand will be Like Family Catering, Monday’s Street Food and the Mean Weenie and there will be yard games.
Aug. 5 – Mexican Food Madness
Entertainment will be provided by All Directions, a funk, jazz and fusion band. Food trucks will be Tijuana Food Truck, Buffy’s Mexicasian Grille and Treat Dreams and there will be yard games.
Aug. 12 – Patriots in the Park
The band Weekend Comeback will entertain this evening. The food trucks are Motor City Pasty Company and Royal Treats and Eats. The vent will also be used to salute Southgate’s fire and police departments and well as veterans and frontline workers.
Aug. 19 – Southgate Business Appreciation
The Downriver Community band will perform and food trucks from Buffy’s Mexicasian Grille and Royal Treats and East will be on hand. There will be yard games to play and a bounce house.
Aug. 26 – Sweet Treats, Movie n the Park
Channel 3 will rock the park with its music as Pablo’s Tacos and Treat Dreams food trucks serve up the food. There will be yard games and a movie.
